Friends

On Friday night, Scott, Ford and I went to see The Wiggles. For those of you who don't have children under the age of six, The Wiggles are about as popular as you can get with the kiddos. We got enough free tickets for all three of us to go and we gave three more to Jason, Mary Ann and Will. It was a big hit with Will and Ford. I forgot my camera, so I'm sorry I don't have any pictures to post from the big concert.

After the concert, I picked up Best Friend Trina and her oldest daughter Ellie from the airport. Trina and I have been friends since the first day of school in seventh grade (I won't mention what year that was) and we've been the best of friends ever since. Trina lives in Orlando, so we don't get to see each other nearly as often as I would like. But, it was wonderful to have them here, even if it was just for a little while.

Here are some pictures from our earlier days:

And, here we are now:

Ellie is nine years old and she is the sweetest, most precious girl. She was so sweet to Ford and he just loved her!

Scott's friend and our best man at our wedding, Steve, also came to Nashville to visit. We had a fantastic weekend just catching up with old friends and letting our children become new friends.

VA

We were long overdue for a trip to see Scott's mom's side of the family in Richmond, so we headed east a week ago Wednesday. We hadn't been to Richmond since Ford was about five months old and we were excited to see everybody!

On Friday, we went to visit Scott's grandfather, Popsie, and his wife June at their place. Thankfully, Ford was entertained by riding on Popsie's very cool walker (or Cadillac as Popsie called it) that has wheels and a seat.

We had a cookout on Saturday night and everyone came to Ben and Jessica's house.
The highlight of our trip was meeting their baby girl, Ruby, for the first time.
Ruby and her Nana (Scott's Aunt Jan):

Jessica, Ben and Ruby:

Ben and Jessica's golden-doodle, Dozer. Can you see the bell by the door? Dozer rings it when he needs to go out. He is a very smart and well behaved dog!

Popsie and Ford watching golf:

Scott's aunt and uncle, Mary and Gib:

I was holding Ruby here and Ford got a little bit jealous and insisted that I hold him too:

Scott's Uncle Skeet got suckered into taking care of the kids somehow:

Sweet Ruby:

Grana, Ford, Dozer and Scott:

We had such a wonderful time visiting with everyone. I wish we could have stayed longer (or that we lived closer together). A very big thanks to Ben and Jessica for letting us stay with them. Also, thanks to Jan, Ben and Cindy for making sure we were fed for the entire trip!

We got back on Monday night and then last night, our community group girls had a baby shower for Lee at our house. Lee and Adam are expecting their first baby, a girl, next month. All of the girls were able to attend except for Suzanne because her baby, Benjamin, was sick. It was nice to spend the evening with these sweet, sweet girls and we can't wait to meet baby Sadie when she makes her arrival into this world!

The summer busyness continues this weekend. Best Friend Trina and daughter Ellie are coming to Nashville tomorrow night. I'm so excited to see them! I can't wait!

Happy Birthday, USA!

This post is long overdue. It seems like July is always a really busy month for us. I'll try and update you on what we've been up to over the past two weeks.

On July 1st, our former church community group had a reunion because our past leaders, Mike and Christi, were in town from St. Louis. Everyone from our old community group was there except for the Trapps who live in Atlanta. It was so fun to see all the kids together. Many of the children hadn't even been born when we joined the community group including Ford. It was a joke that if you were in our community group, you would have a baby girl. As you can see in the picture, the boys are outnumbered! Thanks so much to Brett and Virginia for hosting.

Scott's youngest brother, Greg, and his girlfriend, Juniper, came to Nashville for the 4th of July holiday week. We haven't seen Greg since Christmas, so it was great to have him here. Scott's Dad, Rona, Greg and Juniper came over on the 4th for a cookout. We played outside for a while and Pawpaw and Rona offered to babysit for us so that Scott, Greg, Juniper and I could go watch the fireworks.

Scott's mom came into town on Sunday to spend a few days with us. She was kind enough to babysit so we could go to a Nashville Sounds game...the first one we've been to in a long time! She and Ford played out in the yard with the hose. Ford figured out how to change the setting on the sprayer and soaked Granna! He really got a kick out of that!

On Friday night, Pawpaw and Rona invited us to go see a production of Go, Dog. Go! at the Nashville Children's Theater. We were certain we would have to take Ford out during the show. However, he sat through the entire show and when it was over he said, "Do it again! Do it again!" It was a hit! Much thanks to Pawpaw and Rona for the tickets.

Whew! That's not even all we have done, but it's getting late. We'll be leaving to go to Richmond, Virginia on Wednesday to visit with Grana's side of the family and I'll post about our trip when we get back!

Lake House Weekend

Scott has some clients who graciously offered to let us use their lake house. We went this past weekend and took a few of our friends along...Jason, Mary Ann, Will, Jennifer and Derrick. We left on Friday morning to head to Tim's Ford Lake in Winchester, Tennessee. I had never even heard of this lake before this trip. It turns out that it's a little less than two hours from Nashville and it's absolutely beautiful.

Not only did Scott's clients offer to let us use their house, but all of the fun things they have at the house...a ski boat, paddle boat, kayak, sea doos and a water trampoline.

I am going to post a ton of pictures. We had so much fun, I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to just a few. Most of them are self-explanatory. But, I just have to say that Will is a little water baby. He was jumping off the dock and the boat all by himself! And props to Scott for taking the awesome picture of the sunset!

We are so thankful to Bob and Shannon for letting us "vacation" at their lake house. It's so hard to do anything fun because of having to work around toddler nap and bedtime schedules. But, everything was right there. So, we would just put the boys to bed and hang out on the deck or at the dock. Also, much thanks to Derrick. He has the most boating experience and was a most excellent captain.
